Smart Psychologists-Nigeria Paid A Courtesy Call On Wanteragh Dr Paul Unongo
Prof. Andrew Zamani, Convener of Smart Psycholgists-Nigeria and Mr. Victor Adejoh Country Director of Synergos, recently paid a courtesy call on Wanteragh Dr Paul Unongo, pioneer Nigerian HOD, Department of Psychology, UNILAG.
An experimental psychopathologist, Paul Unongo cuts an image of an astute behavioral scientist in the public space. It was a great delight to note that Gen. Gowon’s regime invited him back home from Canada to play a strategic advisory role in his government to improve the management of the Biafaran war crises.
Until this visit Wanteragh was one of Nigeria’s unsung founding fathers of Psychology in Nigeria. He weeps for Nigeria but exudes the confidence after the more than 3 hours’ courtesy call to say, “Thank God; with young men like these, Nigeria has hope. I had given up that Psychology will find space in Nigeria to make a contribution. What you have just shared with me convinces me that something is being done and a lot more can be done. I have lived, thank God, I have lived.”
